Framelines Studio started life as Black & White Photographics in 1987. It was founded by wedding, portrait & studio photographer Peter Clark. Predominantly a working photographic studio & lab, capturing portraits of Launcestonians in the studio itself, or in a commercial setting & weddings.
Film development in the darkroom was a core part of the business until the advent of digital technology in imaging, which as we all know changed the photographic landscape forever. Peter started to frame work for Launcestonians as the demand for traditional film processes waned. Turning the business into an amalgamation of past historical photographic process, historical photo museum and of course picture framing studio.
In 2021 landscape & sometimes wedding & portrait photographer Charles Millen took on the business from a retiring Peter Clark. Their friendship began well over a decade ago & Charles always expressed interest in becoming a part of Black & White Photographics. The dream became a reality…
Now Black & White Photographics is Framelines Studio, a name change that was necessitated by the desire for it to better reflect the core of the business, which is custom picture framing.
